Two Layer Hammock
This was my first sewing project. I constructed it from RN found in Wally-worlds $1/yd bin.
I basically stuck two pieces of RN together, 9x5, and sewed along the edges. I left two openings on one end to stuff a closed-cell pad into, and used a rolled hem along both layers of the openings. I whipped the ends and attached the support ropes as shown in the WarmHammock section.
This hammock is more comfortable than the single-layer ones Ive made. Its very warm when used with a pad, and I didnt have any problems with the pad buckling. I did wake up with my back (and sleeping bag) soaked from sweat, thoughwhich inspired me to drop the $$$ on the JRB 3-Season Set (right before the price increasesWOOHOO!).
I modified Risks ZHammock design by only putting openings at one end...but I wish I had openings at both ends (like his original design) to make adjusting the pad easier.

This shows the CCF pad sticking out between the layers. After inserting the pad, I slid it into place further inside the sleeve. | |
